End-to-End Management of Services and their related Paths
The AccessIntegrator (ACI) Network Manager abstracts the complexity of managing large and very large access networks by introducing section, path and service objects. ACI Network Manager contains broadband and narrowband higher management layer objects that encapsulate the network details in an intuitive way that is easy to use and helps to save time, across all supported management layers and supported network elements.

Network Manager (TDM) V8.1
For the Network Managers based on time-division multiplexing (TDM) technology we have the following features:
The End-to-End Management Functionality of ACI Version V7.1
This subsumes functions like:
- subscriber management,
- service management for
- PSTN,
- ISDN 64kB (1B+D), 2*64kB (2B+D),
- Leased Line 64kB, n*64kB, 2Mb,
- Conferences,
- path management and
- performance management
Multi-Server Narrowband Service Assurance
The services created for several subnetworks can be viewed at a glance, where each subnetwork corresponds to the management domain of a Domain Manager. In V8.1 each service is based on subnetwork connections within only one subnetwork.
Least-Hop Driven End-to-End Router
The path management in the Network Manager (TDM) V8.1 supports least hop routing for the creation of paths and services. This means that after the selection of a Subscriber Access Point and a Service Access Point by the operator, the ACI determines a path with the minimum number of Network Elements to be passed. Then the ACI connects all missing cross connects automatically.
Network Manager (TDM) V8.2
In Version 8.2 we have as an additional feature:
- Multi-Server Leased Line Provisioning
This feature supports an end-to-end TDM Leased Line management, which may span several subnetworks, each corresponding to the management domain of a Domain Manager. TDM leased line services with end points in different subnetworks can be created, if their connections are unprotected, for transmission rates of n*8 Kbps, 64 Kbps, n*64 Kbps, 2 Mbps and 34 Mbps.
Other services can be provisioned as well, if they have end-points and path segments in the Management Domain of only one Domain Manager. These services can be TDM voice services, TDM conference services, and in addition to unprotected TDM leased line services also protected ones.
Network Manager (CB) V8.2
The ACI Network Manager (CB) V8.2 optimizes path and service management for ATM networks. The following features are provided:
- Creation of ATM Virtual Path Connections (VPCs) for further use in context with ATM Virtual Channel Connections (VCCs) or an end-user service.
- Providing functionality to display, modify and delete VPCs
- Creation of VCC to provide an end-user service, including adaptation to AAL2/AAL1, resp. AAL5 (for VoATM, resp. IP services) to provide an end-user service
- Providing functionality to display, modify and delete VCCs
- Support for the management of traffic and quality of service parameter
- Enabling a continuity check during the creation of a VPC/VCC
- Enabling/Disabling of continuity checks during the operation of a VPC/VCC
- Support of manual routing and automatic least-hop routing for VPCs and VCCs
- Support of connection admission control (CAC) during the routing of VPCs/VCCs
- Implicit creation of VPCs, respectively usage of existing VPCs when a new VCC is created according to the choices of the operator.
- Routing of VPCs/VCCs over other vendor's ATM subnetworks that are not managed by ACI.
Multi-Server Fault and Event Management
Alarm states of services and events can be tracked to their causes in corresponding subnetworks. The alarms of services contain condensed information of related objects in Domain and Element Managers, like termination points and cross connections.
Features:
While the ACI Network Manager (CB) V8.2 is used in context with ATM path management (VPCs and VCCs with AAL management), the Network Managers (TDM) V8.1 and V8.2 offer
- the end-to-end management functionality (section and line management) of ACI V7.1,
- multi-server narrowband service assurance,
- a least-hop driven end-to-end router, and
- multi-server Leased Line provisioning (Network Manager (TDM) V8.2 only)
Benefits:
- Fast service provisioning based on TDM or ATM technology
- Optimal and cost-effective usage of the network capacity
- Easy configuration of VPCs and VCCs for ATM technology
- Centralized point of operation and surveillance for the entire managed access network
