Requirements to the network
Home Entertainment requires specific prerequisites from operators. Among them: possibility of work with:
BRAS (boundary router) with the following functions:
1. Supports of multicasting.
2. Supports of protocols for traffic.
3. GE interfaces for TV.
4. Cards with line interfaces of STM — x level or Ethernet.
DSLAM ensuring:
1. Support of multicasting operation mode in ATM and IP networks
2. Support of IGMP protocol, version 2 and its different functions.
3. Use of broadband line cards ADSL and/or VDSL
4. Minimum upstream channel — GE and system bus with the capacity of 1Gbit/s.
Network (last mile) with the following features:
1. Support of guaranteed service transfer from supplier to user. Transport network must guarantee the necessary bandwidth and priority for TV channels as well as for active sessions of video on demand (VoD).
2. Bandwidth in the range from 1 Mbit/s to 5 Mbit/s depending on the codec types, quantity and types of services in the packet.
3. A certain free IP network resource to satisfy the requirements of dynamic bandwidth allocation.
